California Dreaming

The owner of this home is a local artist who has been a resident artist at Balboa Park's renowned Spanish Art Village with her own studio. Throughout the walls of this home she has personally painted numerous murals with California ocean life themes. This cottage has been her reprieve for the past 20 years and she is thrilled to finally be able to share her full vision for it with others as they get to stay and experience the California Dreaming Beach Cottage. We can't wait for you to experience it!

Janet & Scott are your hosts. We are a husband and wife team and we will be available to answer questions during your stay. We respond quickly to messages and provide you our mobile phone numbers for texting or calling for any urgent needs. When you check in we are happy to provide you with directions to our favorite restaurants, tourist attractions and help you get acquainted with the area.

Pacific Beach is THE place to be at in San Diego.  There is a lively beach scene as well as plenty of fun bars and restaurants along Garnet Avenue and Mission Blvd.  But this cute beach cottage is a total gem because it is set back away from the crowds on a very quiet residential street. The neighborhood is safe and secure. There is even security patrolling the neighborhood. 

Please note: This property has air conditioning in two bedrooms at this time. (The king bedroom and the bunk bedroom.) 

This property has a large enclosed backyard and is dog friendly with an additional non-refundable pet fee of $150 per dog. We allow up to 2 dogs. Please let us know before booking if you intend to bring any dogs with you. We require info including their breed, gender and age.  You are responsible for your dogs and any damage they incur during your stay. 

There are three bedrooms inside the cottage - one with a king bed, another with a queen bed, and a third with bunk bed with two twin beds. There is also a detached bedroom with a queen bed. 

The fully outfitted kitchen is supplied with all the cooking pans, dishes, and utensils you might need to cook a family meal. Plus there is a new propane BBQ and an outdoor dining table for six.

The living room TV is a Roku SmartTV, which includes Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and many other channels (you'll need your own login credentials for the pay channels). What's more, there is free WIFI and plenty of outlets to keep you plugged in. 

We even stock you with some beach chairs, beach umbrella, sand toys & boogie boards for taking down to the beach.

We can connect you with a service that will set you up with a private bonfire on the beach. They include set up and take down, portable steel fire drum, roasting sticks, hot dogs, and s'mores. 

Recreational opportunities abound. We can get you hooked up with renting: surfboards, stand up paddle boards, kayaks, jet skis, sail boats, water ski boats, etc. If you're not experienced in any of these but want to learn, we can connect you with group classes and private lessons available in any of these activities. 

Are you into yoga? There is free daily yoga on the beach nearby. No yoga mats needed. Just bring a beach towel & water and you are all set. (It's donation based so maybe bring some cash for the instructor. )

The cottage comes supplied with the basics you'd expect at any hotel like a hair dryer and iron. Plus you have a kitchen and living room to enjoy. We think of everything you might need and even stock you with a few beach towels so you don't need to pack those in your suitcase. Why stay at a hotel when you can stay in the comfort of your own home in a friendly neighborhood? Vacation like a local.
