The Beach Shag

This ground floor apartment has a 2 private entries. It is nestled in the center a 6 unit apartment building and is located right on the main boulevard that runs through Mission Beach. Although there is some traffic noise it quickly becomes white noise.(If you're a light sleeper this may not be the right fit.)

An AC unit is supplied in the bedroom during the hot months (late Jun to early Sep). With the two ceiling fans running the AC should help cool the whole apartment. The AC makes for great "white noise" to drown out any city noise.

We supply two beach cruiser bikes, beach towels, bodyboards, beach chairs and beach umbrella. For anything else you need for the beach, there is a rental shop just a 3 minute walk away that rents surfboards, stand up paddle boards, kayaks, etc. They have very affordable rates, plus tell them "Mission Beach Villas" sent you and the rental shop will give you an additional 15% off! 

We can hook you up with a private bonfire on the beach. Includes set up and take down, portable steel fire drum, roasting sticks, hot dogs, and s'mores. A perfect activity while waiting for the nightly summer Sea World fireworks over the bay. Inquire for details.

Are you into yoga? There is free beach daily just a 5 minute walk from the property. No yoga mats are required. Just bring beach towels and water and you are all set. (It's donation based so maybe bring some cash for the instructor. )

Outside your back door is coin operated washer & dryer that are shared with the other units. 

The vacation rental is thoroughly cleaned between each stay. However if you wish for a cleaning and change of linens during your stay we can arrange for the housekeeper to come for an additional charge of $80. Please give us one day's notice so we can get this scheduled with the housekeeper.

Janet & Scott are your hosts. We are a husband and wife team and we live just a few couple doors down. We typically let you do a self-check in so you can arrive at your convenience, anytime after the 3 pm check-in time.  We will always be available to answer questions during your stay. While we prefer communications through the Airbnb messaging on their phone app, we do provide you our cell phone numbers for calling if any urgent needs arise. 

Before your stay we are happy to suggest our favorite restaurants, tourist attractions and will help you get acquainted with the area

The best thing about the neighborhood is that there is so much within walking distance that you may not need a car.  You could just take an Uber from the airport (7 miles away), get dropped off here and you're at the beach!  We have local restaurants, trendy beach bars, excellent coffee spots, and breakfasts cafes all within a few short blocks.  Sea World is just 3 miles away.

The location is the best spot in all of Mission Beach.  It is on the south side of Santa Clara Place (where the traffic light is), which means a non district area. It is far enough (1 mile) north of the roller coaster area so it's very removed from the tourist noise. It's located in a small apartment complex mixed with other vacation rentals and a few friendly locals.  

Recreational opportunities abound. This beach rental is a few minutes walking distance to Santa Clara point where there are numerous recreation activities and rentals available including: stand up paddle boards, kayaks, jet skis, windsurfing, catamarans, sail boats, water ski boats, and even jet packs. There are group classes and private lessons available in all of these activities. What's more there are free yoga classes each day on the beach and two courts north. 

It is equally centered between Belmont Park (the roller coaster area) and Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach, which are both 1 mile away, making this location removed from the tourist noise but yet accessible to the action if that's what you want. 

There is a fantastic surf spot at the beach out front for beginners to the advanced surfer and great for the spectator as well. There are affordable surf lessons offered daily in the beach right out in front by our friends at Surfari Surf School. What's more, we can point you to all the best surf spots in San Diego County.  And we have two world class board shapers who live on our block in case you want to get a new surf board while you are here.

It is positioned in the ♡ of Mission Beach, a gorgeous beach community on a super narrow strip of land between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay. Walk in either direction (West or East) and you'll encounter pristine white beaches. Both sides have wide boardwalks for bicycle riding or walking. On the bay-side you'll enjoy a relaxing sail bay with a calm atmosphere, while on the ocean-side you'll enjoy ocean waves for surfing and a lively beach scene.  Either way, you'll call it paradise. We simply call it home!   

This cozy little beach vacation rental is a ground floor apartment right on the main Blvd. You have your own separate entry, front and back.

The vacation rental features one bedroom, one bathroom, cozy living room, and a fully supplied kitchen. There is a queen size bed in the bedroom and a full size sofa bed in the living room. 

The kitchen includes a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and a Keurig coffee maker. We supply you with all the cooking pans, dishes, and utensils you might need. There are the usual kitchen gadgets such as bottle openers and cork screws.

The living room comes complete with a flat screen television. It is equipped with Internet TV with Roku, which includes live local TV and Netflix. Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and many other channels are available with your own login credentials. What's more, there is free WIFI and plenty of outlets to keep you plugged in. 

The vacation rental comes supplied with all the basics you'd expect at any hotel like a hair dryer and iron. Plus you have a kitchen and living room to enjoy. We think of everything you might need and even stock you with beach towels so you don't need to pack those in your suitcase. Why stay at a hotel when you can stay in the comfort of your own home in a friendly neighborhood? Vacation like a local.
